Docs translated?

Just curious, what documents have to be translated to engllish if I will be getting married to my fiance in costa rica? (police certificate? marriage certificate?..etc)

For the PR application, you have to have any document that isn't in English or French translated. For anything unofficial (like chat logs, cards, letters, ...) you can do the translation yourself, but anything official (marriage certificate, police certificates and anything else you're submitting) needs to be translated by a certified translator.

If you are translatig documents issued in COsta RIca, there is a list of government-approved translators. I recall seeing that list somehwere -- perhaps on the website of El Misisterio de Extranjeria (not the full name).

I had a quick look for the list, but did not find it readily. If you cannot find it yourself, write to me offline and I'll look more thoroughly.

oh man... so chat logs, letters, cards have to be translated too?! man how much of each do u think i should send cuz we have sent many many e-mails, letters, and cards, and it will take me forever to translate them all myself LOL...

I remember reading in another post similar to this one that people said one should send them all in but translate only a few of them.

And this makes sense. No one will expect you to translate hundred of e-mails/letters/cards.
