Do You Have To Renew Your TRV Before It Expires Or Can You Do It After It Expires?

I applied to extend my study permit and they extended it. However I did not extend my TRV (Because I thought it was only meant for travelling). My TRV has expired but my study permit is valid.

I just wanted to confirm but is this ok? Should I have applied to extend the TRV before it expired? Or can I do it even now?

Also what are the requirements for extending the TRV? Is a valid study permit all you need? Do you need to be active in the college as well? What if you graduate and still have the active study permit? Can you still apply to extend the TRV?

I know its 2 separate processes, I was merely asking whether it needs to be extended before the expiry date or if its fine to apply for the renewal AFTER the expiry date.

Because I know that's the rule for the study permit. You have to extend the study permit BEFORE the current study permit's expiry date

Cool. But what if you've finished your program and want to apply for a work permit? Should you still use the study permit to apply for the TRV or should you apply for the work permit and then apply for the TRV?

Because I noticed the TRV application asks this specifically. If you're planning on applying for a work permit.
