Do we still need to show proof of a round trip ticket with less than 6 months left to our visa expiry?

Hi All,

I am a temporary worker in Quebec with a closed work permit that is set to expire in April 2024 (less than 6months). I started applying spousal sponsorship for my family early January 2023. My family's work and study visas got delayed due to re-medicals and closure of CIC due to rallies. My work permit extension is still being processed by my employer to extend my visa.

What are the chances that a round trip ticket will be required by POE officer upon arrival of my family in Canada, knowing that there are only 4 months left to their visa until expiry? I can't afford to buy tickets back to Philippines and it does not make sense too as my work permit extension is on process and will eventually get extended. Your advice is highly appreciated.

Thank you and God bless.

I think you got confused with the term "family/spousal sponsorship". You are a foreign worker. You cannot sponsor your family/spouse to become PR unless you are one yourself. (family class/spousal sponsorship mean sponsoring them to become PRs)

Post your question to foreign worker section.
Also I don't really understand what does your spouse's and dependent's travel (rount trip tickets or not) has anything to do with you able to afford tickets to the Philippines.
