do they give Visitor visa permit like study visa permit at arrival in canada

do border agents give Visitor visa permit like study visa permit at arrival in Canada, i came as a student at at the entry they gave a study permit (paper) after checking visa stamp on my passport,
if anybody know if they do the same for person with visitor visa or they don't give any thing like only the passport stamp
