Do I need to update CIC common-law having my baby

We would like a clarification and what we should do because my Canadian common-law who is carrying my baby requested to know if we need to update CIC. I have yet to wait for first stage of approval, we submitted in-land application last October 2008 and my common-law is going on maternity leave soon as we are expecting in 2 months. Just curious about my open work permit, we need at least one person to work to have a stable family.. it would be great if I can start working once she goes for maternity leave..everything will be stable.

I know we have asked these questions so many times..I guess she needs some comfort to know..

I don't think you can make it any faster. You just have to hope for the best. She will get parental leave so you will have at least some money from there.
