Apologies if this has been answered before. I tried searching for the answer using the search function, but could not find a solution that I felt was 100% accurate to my situation.
So I recently got married to my fiance (now wife). She is from the USA and I am a citizen here in Canada. We were married in Manitoba which is where we plan to live. We are planning to immigrate her here under the outland family class spouse sponsorship.
In any case, we are confused by the somewhat ambiguous section where it asks us to send in our marriage certificate.
At the top of the "Supporting Documents for Sponsor" section of form IMM 5533E (Document Checklist) it states "Send Photocopies Unless Instructed Otherwise"
Then once you get to the part about the marriage certificate (Civil Status Documents) it states right at the beginning "Please submit photocopies of the documents pertaining to your specific situation(s)". Right after that under "Current Relationship" it states "If you (the principal applicant) are married to your sponsor, provide your marriage certificate/registration. A record of solemnization or marriage license is not acceptable". So at this point I'm not 100% sure if that means the original marriage certificate or if a photo copy is good enough. One reason I am confused is because some of the other options tend to state "provide a copy" while this one does not. If necessary I could also get a notarised true copy of the marriage certificate if that would be ok to send.
If anybody could shed some light on this, we would be extremely grateful! Thank you!
