Hello there,

My visa on my passport shows expiry date is 30/DEC/2010. I entered to Canada on 01/NOV/2010. I believe I am allowed to stay as a visitor in Canada for 6 months because the immigration did not stamp any length of stay into my passport except the arrival date.

Next month, I am willing to apply for a temporary working visa from inside Canada. I am afraid if while the application is being proceeded, and my TRV (label) on my passport may be expired before the application is granted/refused.

Please kindly be advised what I should do?

A) Leave the visa on my passport to expire because I am allowed to stay in the Country for 6 months or
B) I need to renew my visa (label on my passport) to be valid as same as my stay which is allowed by the immigration?

Thank you and look forward to hearing from you guys,

Best regards,

You can stay up to 6 months from the time you entered Canada but initial work permits are applied for outside the country, the closest being the US. You don't have to apply for a new TRV (pasted on on the passport) but you may need to apply for extension of stay if your application takes quite a while to be processed. You'd be sending your passport together with the initial WP application so photocopy the bio page and the pages marked when you entered Canada as you'd be needing these pages when you send your application to extend at CPC-Vegreville.

Dear job_seeker,

I currently don't have any valid US visa to travel to apply for a temporary working visa from Seattle. Please be advised if myself or the employer are allowed to send the application from Canada itself. Any other possibilities I could do, please kindly let me know is very much appreciated.

Thank you and best regards,

P.S. As I am holding a Thai passport, is it possible to apply for a US tourist visa from Canada?

You send it once you have the positive LMO. Read on and get the supporting documents ready before you send the package.

As to applying for a US visit visa, that is your choice. I am not aware of the success rate of visa apps to the US of Canadian TRV holders.
