Do I need to notify CBSA about change of status?

Hi, I got a "visitor record" when I arrived in Canada and I'm supposed to leave in June. So I have to show up at the airport with my passport and the visitor record, but I applied for an extension.
Do you recommend sending an update to CBSA when you file your visa extension?
TIA

I'm from a visa exempt country, so I came at the beginning of May with my eTa and a return ticket for Sep. with the intention of traveling around Canada visiting friends, but the agent thought it was too long. So they gave me a month to stay, issuing a visitor record.
Now, I applied for a visitor's visa extension and it's being processed, which means I have the "implied status". However, I've been told I should update CBSA about the changes...

No need to update CBSA but also no guarantee that you will get an extension.
Thanks, I know that applying is no guarantee. However, since I was told to show up at the airport with my passport, my visitor record, and a boarding pass by June 2, but I'm not going to be there I'd like to know if I need to update Toronto Airport's CBSA-Immigration. I already got a letter from IRCC saying that my application is in process, so I thought I don't need to update immigration at the airport, but lawyer suggested otherwise. I honestly, I don't wanna deal with the officers at the airport anymore...
Thanks
