Do I need to fill out Statutory Declaration of Common-Law Union (IMM 5409)?

I am applying for an extension of my study permit and I was wondering if I have to fill this form since it says at the top that is for Immigration and Refugee Protection Act and Regulations? Also I don't really have any joint bank accounts or property together, so the only documents that I can use is a letter from our landlord that says that we've been living in the same residence for x amount of time, and I also don't quite understand what is an Commisioner of Oaths, Do I have to have someone else to fill the form besides my partner and me? Any help will be much appreciated, thanks a lot!

i dont understand ur question ur applying for extension of r study permit right? is ur common law partner with u on a visa /permit? and would u extend ur partners permit too?

Immigration and Refugee Protection Act and Regulations applies to every study permit/visa holder and not just immigrants. I guessing thats what u thought that since ur on study permit this does not apply to u but thats not the case. please clarify ur query

Yeah, sorry, I wasn't sure how to ask and I guess I just made a confusing question. I just wanted to know if I have to fill that form when I'm applying for an extension of my student permit, and what is exactly a Commisioner of Oaths and if this person has to sign this form as well? My common-law partner is a Canadian citizen.

is ur common law partner sponsoring u? normally u need it when u r applying for a ur common law partners visitors permit to prove ur together like a spouse has a marriage cert. it can be used if ur common law partner is sponsoring u for visa/PR ...but in ur case u have a study permit which does not depend on ur relationship with ur common law partner nor u want to apply for ur common law partners visitors visa or work permit. So i am guessing u dont need it. ur query is still not very clear like what is ur nationality etc

I am a Mexican Citizen, he is a Canadian citizen. No he's not sponsoring me, I am just appliying for a study permit extension. I applied for it bymyself the first time, he only wrote an invitation letter, saying that I would be living with him.

No you don't need to fill out that form. It is only if he wants to come with you. But he is Canadian so he can stay there anyways. Hope this helps.
