Hi, I'm a US citizen and hope to buy a 30 day VIA rail pass so I can see Canada starting in Vancouver and ending in Halifax. As such, I will have plane tickets fr/ NYC to Vancouver to start, and from Halifax to NYC on day 30. Theoretically, I could use my pass to travel home to New York, if I run out of money.
After I purchase tickets, I will land in Vancouver with between $800 and $1000 cad inside my bank account. I will receive another $2000usd while in Canada -- thanks to residual payments from my work.
My questions: When I land in Vancouver, will I be asked to provide proof of funds for my 30-day trip? Again, I'm a US citizen (born and raised here etc).

Also, I've consulted numerous sources (inc. the Canadian government website, which was rather vague).

hello,
they usually do not ask for this type of proof, but it usually depends on the port of entry, they might ask. if they do, just do not worry, tell them the sum you already have and explain that you have more money coming to your account these days. there will be no problem.
