I need to apply for extension of my open spousal work permit - I work part-time as a nurse, do I have to undergo another Medical? I underwent a Medical for our PR application last Tuesday. Will CIC have to wait to refer to results of this when available? I had hoped to go to border (Peace Arch) to get extension, we are Irish nationals, but am concerned they will deny without medical being processed by Ottawa. Does anyone know if extension of permit could be granted without medical?- We have lived in Canada full-time since 2008, and I have worked with same employer since Feb 2009.
thanks

No, you don't require a new medical.

O.k Thanks that's what I thought - however if I did try to get an extension at Port of Entry -assuming my husbands extension is granted, will this be contingent on the availability of results of latest medical for PR ? If that's the case then I would just wait a few weeks and try then, our PR medicals were only done last week, otherwise we'll just have to apply via Vegreville and hope for the best. I am keen to avoid 'Implied Status' as stated earlier, because we need to leave Canada at end of April, just after expiry of original work permits.
thanks for advice
Helena.
