Hello All,
I got an exclusion order for one year for overstaying in Canada. However i don't have a certificate of departure on hand.
During my removal order and day of departure i was told to go to CBSA office at the airport. There i waited for instructions. Finally 3 security guards came and escorted me to the gates. They had an envelope in hand which i know had my passport. but did not know what else it had. Once the flight was ready to live. The security guards escorted me to boarding desk and gave that envelope to the boarding staff, the boarding handed the tickets and put the ticket in the envelope. FYI I had paid for my own flight .The boarding staff then passed on the envelope to the supervisor/ Captain who kept it for the duration of the flight. The first layover was within Canada, so they arranged for a CBSA officer to meet me at the bridge. He was standing there when i crossed the bridge into the airport. He was holding the same envelope, which i guess was handed to him by the flight crew. He walked with me and made me sign a document. But he put the document back in the envelope and proceeded to hand it over to the next flight crew. This envelope was passed from one flight staff of that flight to the next flight staff of the next plane until i landed in my home country. Now problem is i did not know the full contents of that envelope. When i got to the airport of my home office ,they gave me back my passport and refused to give me the rest of the contents in that envelope. Now i have read that i need to have the certificate of departure if i want to go back to canada after the exclusion period is over., i believe that the certificate of departure was part of the contents withheld. but i am not sure at all. I have tried to go back to the airport office but according to them, they can no longer locate it.

Questions:

- Do i need a certificate of departure when going back? even after getting a visa. and after the exclusion period is over?
- I read that CBSA has a copy of this document, can they access it at Point of Entry when arrive, or do they need my copy?
- Anyone who has gotten an exclusion order and went back to Canada ,kindly share if you needed to show a certificate of departure at the point of entry. and also share how the expereince went.

Thank you in advance for your input.
