Do anyone need to submit the divorce petition??UK Application

My husband was divorced in Canada and my agent asked him to apply the divorce petition from the court,
this is because sometimes the overseas visa officer will request the divorce petition when
they start processing the case. the agent said to put the divorce petition in file in case the visa
office request.

But my husband didn't apply the DP as we think we can submit when the visa office request.

Do any people have this experience? Thank you very much for the share......

Your husband needs to include his divorce CERTIFICATE. The actual petition is the application for the divorce. Or it used to be. I think now it's done by Statement of Claim and Writ of Summons at least in BC. Probably depends on the province. But anyway, the divorce certificate is required. It's on the checklist in just about every Region Specific Guide I've seen.

Yes, our application documents include his divorce certificate. I hope this can help and no need to
apply the divorce petition in the furture. My agent said the application form of separation date might be
contradicted with the legal documents(Divorce Petition).
This is the risk to not apply the DP in advance before fill the application form.

Not long. I live in small town so I called the the court house to see what I had to do. They gave me the name of a person in the public archives. I went to the public archives and got them the same day in the afternoon. I dont know if that is the same for bigger cities.

Mu husband is living in Toronto, that's why my agent said within 10 days to get the DP. Yours is so quick.

Very strange in my opinion. I was divorced too and they never asked me for this. Just the certificate. I wonder if it is specific to this visa office or has to do with length of time you have been divorced (I was divorced for 9 years at the time I applied to sponsor my husband) or if they have had lots of incidents of illegal marriages.

i did not supply anything other than my divorce certificate.... i was divorced less than a month before I married my hubby and we submitted paperwork about 5m after that... my divorce was finalized in the US at that.. (i was the sponsor, canadian born)... this is actually the first i'm hearing of this, and i'm glad that i wasn't required to provide anything else because it would be a PIA to get it from Georgia and would likely mean paying the divorce lawyer i used yet more of my hard earned money to facilitate... i hate dealing with county offices down there... always a runaround!!!

my guess is that it is visa office dependant or random...

In my opinion, the visa office only ask the divorce petition for those sponsors' marriage divorce in Canada,
I know not all the cases they request for DP, it all depends on the entire of the case. Some visa office request
the DP even the sponsor was divorce for over 10 years.
