Hi fellows,

How did/would you apply for the CEC ? through an agent or by yourself ?

Is there a clear disadvantage if I applied by myself other than spending more time into the investigation process ?

If your case is straight forward apply by yourself. There's not any disadvantage doing so. I would say on the contrary. And also you'll save $.

No, to CIC there is no difference at all. CIC doesn't care who prepared, who helped or who gathered the documents for you.
All they care about is a complete application package.
The process is fairly straight forward, if you can follow instructions outlined by CIC and want to save a couple thousand $$$ for a lawyer.

Check out my website, you'll find a ton of information there: >> http://cectoolkit.weebly.com/

Hope this helps,

T.

I used an agent in my U.S. greencard application. I can tell you what an agent will do:
They'll download all the instructions and forms from CIC
They'll prepare a quesion list for you to fill out in order to fill out the forms (they won't send you the forms)
they'll tell you what documents you need to prepare following the CIC instructions, if they are kind enough they'll give you an reference letter template
they'll check everything and send them to CIC, whatever CIC says in the future they'll forward them to you
They'll charge you several grands for the 5 hours and a few emails they spent on your case
