Hi,

Me and my wife are planning to get a divorce as soon as we get our PR card in our hand. I am the primary applicant here. I need help in understanding few things.

1. Will our PR be still valid without any issues in future? Any other complications I need to be aware of?

2. If I re-marry soon after my divorce, can I immediately sponsor her and kid for the PR? And how long will it take for them to get the PR? Is there any proof of funds I need to show? Any other thing I need to be aware of?

Please help me in getting the information here.

If you divorce the minute you have PR in hand you can expect pretty significant scrutiny from CIC immediately sponsoring someone else. It appears as though your first marriage was one of convenience or solely for immigration purposes and that you are attempting to abuse the system.

Agreed with the above. If you do as planned, you can expect IRCC will examine your application very closely to ensure you didn't commit misrepresentation in obtaining PR and also ensure you new relationship is genuine. If there's any misrepresentation involved, that could put your PR status at risk.

If you and your wife are planning on divorcing as soon as you get your PR cards in hand, then you should no longer be applying together - continuing with the application may be viewed as misrepresentation by IRCC.

I am a bit confused. You already have a "candidate" for your next wife and those are you and her kids? Or are those your step-kids from her previous relationship?

After reading this, this is an obvious attempt by the OP to abuse the PR system. And you wondered why some cases are taking a longer time to process than others.

amen to that, because of fools like him

But my case is genuine. My current marriage is 5yrs old. I just happen to be in such a situation that my marriage is falling out after I applied for PR. And we both don't want to let go off the chance to get a PR. Is there a way out? How long should we wait after getting the PR so as it doesn't seemed to be a case of cheating?

What happens if I apply for divorce before entering Canada? What effect will it have on our PR considering me being the primary candidate?

There isn't any 'candidate' but I want to know if I re-marry and I have step kids due to this marriage then what are the things I should be aware of as ultimately I would want my new family to be staying with me.

If your marriage fell apart AFTER you applied for PR but before approval, you should not go ahead. You should have figured out your marriage first.

That's NOT THE CHANCE. You are playing with the system.

Are you the applicant or the sponsor? Or did you both apply for PR from the outside?

You should apply for divorced before landing. And inform CIC that you, the primary applicant, is not married any more and do not want to include your spouse in the application. If you qualify by yourself, then they will send you an updated COPR and you can land single.
