I am an international worker currently on work permit (expiring in 2019). 1.5 years ago, my boyfriend's work permit was about expire and couldn't get it to extend. I was then on my study permit. Hence, we decided to get married to each other because of which he could get his work permit to extend. We still have not applied for the permanent residence but now we want to divorce.

a- If we divorce will he lose his work permit that he got because of me? If yes then what will happen?
b- Will my immigration status get affected or still be the same?
c- what all should I consider before divorcing him?
d- where can I get more help from?

Please help me. I dont know what to do. I married him to help him out but now things have changed between us.

1. No - his work permit won't be affected.
2. Same.
3. You may want to meet with a family lawyer to understand what the financial impacts will be of your divorce.
4. See above.

Hello,

Currently I am in a similar situation. My wife is studying and I have OWP through her. How was your case ended? Did you get a divorce?

Thanks
