NOC Code......
6221
Job Offer........
Pre-Assessed..
Hi guys:
I have been following this forum for many months and this is my first post, any advice or recommendation will be greatly appreciated!
Here is my situation: I graduated from university with a bachelor degree in materials engineering in May. 2015. In 2015 mid-September I was fortunate to get a technical job related to my background (NOC-2143 Mining Engineer). The company was fantastic until they had to lay me off due to the gloomy industry outlook in late Apr. 2016. I was struggling to find any related jobs in mining for almost 7 months and then, in Nov. 2016 one of my friends told me there was a vacant position in his company and it is completely irrelevant from what my major is. The company is a small cleaning supply firm and the owner agreed to offer me a position of NOC6222(Retail and Wholesale Buyer) since my previous position includes some tasks in sales aspect, e.g: find potential clients, generate cost estimate report, conduct pre-sales introduction etc. At the end of March I will gain 1 year of work experience and therefore, plan to create an EE profile in a month and apply under CEC category(by that time I will have a CRS of 439 points)
My concern is:
1. I talked to my previous supervisor and he is willing to coordinate me with any changes on job tile or duties. We have come to an agreement that instead of using NOC-2143(Mining Engineer), I will use NOC-6221(Technical Sales Rep.) as my previous work title and he is willing to rewrite the job offer to accommodate this change. To me I think since I did some sales work and NOC6221 is closer to my current title 6222, 6221 should be somewhat better than mining engineer, please advice.
2. I have seem some people in the forum who either got laid off or quit themselves to find a new job and they are able to claim the 1 year accumulated work experience point (40 points) when filing the application, but most of these people are able to get a job in one month or shorter. I have a huge gap between two jobs, am I still eligible for claiming that 40 points of 1 year experience?

Please advice since I am pretty anxious and lost now, if I can not get that 40 points that means I have to figure something else. :) :) :)

I'm not sure I'm understanding.
A - why re-write a job offer for a past job? It is not a required document. You only need a letter of reference ("experience" letter) and your T4.
B - Are you trying to find the correct NOC for duties actually performed? Or are you committing misrepresentation in the misguided and erroneous belief that your one year of Canadian work experience must be in a single NOC? (If it's the latter, it's a really bad idea).

For Canadian experience, it does not matter one bit if there is a gap between jobs. The only thing that matters is that you complete one year within the previous 3 years (to be eligible for CEC class, that is).

It seems that you are worrying about a lot of unnecessary things. Perhaps you should spend more time with the IRCC website to better understand the actual program requirements, and worry about the things that are actually required : )

Thanks Jes_ON, yeah you are right. CEC never officially states that the two or more experience has to be under same NOC. I am just thinking too much. BTW, is it possible for me to start the application now(even if i only have 11 months experience)? I just want to see what score do I have. Is there some kinds of a CRS points review page before you submit the application?

There are several "CRS calculators" you can use to estimate your score:
http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/immigrate/skilled/crs-tool.asp

They do not ask the questions in exactly the same way, so it is possible for there to be some difference between the calculator and your actual score.

It is not possible for you to start the application (eAPR) until you receive an invitation to apply (ITA).

However, it IS possible for you to start the Expression of Interest profile (this is not an "application") now. However, you won't know your score until you submit it. If you submit it and you do not meet the requirements, your profile will be rejected and you'll have to start all over. If you complete the profile, submit it, and it is accepted into the pool, you will get your CRS score. But - once you are in the pool, it is possible to receive the ITA - if you get that before you have completed one year, you will have to refuse the ITA. Your profile will stay in the pool, and you can accept the ITA once you know you are eligible (and yes, it is possible to get an ITA before you are eligible, but that's not a good thing).

Sorry for asking you this question but I am just curious coz I completed my 1-year experience according to start date but in between, i took 3 weeks unpaid vacation. So when I make the profile I will just put down the start date so it will automatic gave me for 1-year experience points 3 weeks early as the system won't know that I took three weeks unpaid vacation in between. And during those three weeks if i get ITA and i will reject as i know that I am not eligible yet.

Can you please advice what is the best solution in my case? Should I make a profile now or wait to finish those extra three weeks?

Doesn't really matter, since you already know you would have to decline the ITA if you get it before you are eligible. Personally, I would wait until I was eligible.
