I'm curious, if most of you out there went to a professional studio, to make the photos, or did you do it yourself with a digital camera?

When I was extending my Work Permit, I uploaded my own photos, but when I looked at the official instructions for PR card photos: (google 5445EB-e.pdf, as I can't post links)

On second page it states:

The two photos must be taken by a commercial photographer.

Instructions on My CIC do not state that clearly, but on the CIC EE description it does: (google: cic express entry digital photo guide)

As it's kind of hidden, I guess many people could have missed in and went with their amateur photos.

What do you think?

It doesn't matter at all where you take your digital photos. The thing really matters is where you take your hard copy photos.

As per CIC:
At this time, the electronic photos uploaded by applicants cannot be used for the permanent residence card; therefore, CIC will not reject an application as incomplete if the photos submitted do not comply with CIC’s prescribed photo specifications.

The ‘Passport Request’ letter, therefore, includes a request for hard copy photos. Applicants are instructed to mail these photos to CIC.
