Reposting...I guess the last time it was rather an uninteresting posting....

I am new to this group and here I am trying to figure out the following:

1. I am working two jobs. One as a full time Lead MMT with supervisory responsibilities (6211); and other part-time at home improvement company as a technical sales specialist (6221). My question is whether technical sales specialist can qualify under O, A, or B. The confusion is the description talks only about “supervisor, technical sales specialist”. However in the listing it shows a clear category of “technical sales specialist”

2. The “Technical Sales Specialist” I am referring to is a retail work in a big home improvement company, whereas the title in the CIC website clearly says “Technical Sale Specialist – Wholesale”.

3. Can I combine both work experience to show up to 37.5 hours per week (in the event both fall under O, A, or B) if I have to when I apply to, for example, 6211?

thanks for cooperation, Tek

1. and 2. The job duties matching the NOC are important. The title is not really important because job duties under different titles can vary between employers.

3. Yes, you can combine both jobs. Read http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/resources/manuals/op/op25-eng.pdf page 9, section 6.4:

The full-time work experience requirement may be met by the equivalent in part-time paid work experience, e.g. more than one part-time job held simultaneously or one or more part-time jobs held over the equivalent of one year of full-time work. Experience can be calculated by adding up the number of weeks of full-time work, i.e. 37.5 hours per week in one job or a total of at least 37.5 hours per week in more than one job, in one or more of the NOC categories.
Both your NOC's are skill level B. This is explained here: http://www5.hrsdc.gc.ca/NOC/English/NOC/2006/pdf/Introduction.Pdf on page xii

Hi,

I'm sorry about asking questions as a reply. I am really new to this and haven't been able to figure out how to post my questions. Could you let me know how to post my own question? Not only this, I'm planning to apply for PR but not sure if my position is eligible for that.

My position is a Leasing and Accounting Administrator. I do bookkeeping, reconciliation and leasing work. As far as I know, Accounting Clerk is not eligible but bookkeeper is eligible.

Thank all of you who provided questions and answers!!

Go to a topic like http://www.canadavisa.com/canada-immigration-discussion-board/canadian-experience-class-b52.0/ if you want to apply under CEC and on the right side, not at the top menu but the one below, there is a choice of "Notify" and "New Topic". Click on the "New Topic".

You can find all "leasing" NOC's under http://www5.hrsdc.gc.ca/NOC/English/NOC/2006/SearchKeywordResult.aspx?val11=leasing&val12=0&val13=0&val14=&val15=0&val16=0

Reconciliation here: http://www5.hrsdc.gc.ca/NOC/English/NOC/2006/SearchKeywordResult.aspx?val11=reconciliation&val12=0&val13=0&val14=&val15=0&val16=0

Accounting here: http://www5.hrsdc.gc.ca/NOC/English/NOC/2006/SearchKeywordResult.aspx?val11=accounting&val12=0&val13=0&val14=&val15=0&val16=0

Your NOC is where the job duties fit best unless your work permit states something else.

You are right that accounting clerk is not skilled and bookkeeper is.

6221 is specific to wholesale. For retail, unless you are supervisor/manager, your NOC will be 6421, skill level C.

If you work less than 37.5 hours per week for your qualifying job, that's OK - you just have to work a little longer trhan 2 years. How many hours per week to you work? You have to work as ong as it takes to acquire the equivalent of 3900 hours (for 2 year-equivalent) or 1950 hours (for 1 year equivalent- If you are applying as a post grad...)

Thanks to Leon and Jes_ON. Appreciate it. I work 30 hours a week on 6211. Under the other (sales specialist) I work about 20 hours but I think, now, as you said, it cannot be counted because this falls under C (I am not a supervisor in this position). In the former job I am categorized as a full-time and it is a supervisory. it seems like I must wait for about 3 years. Many thanks anyway....T

If your second job really is 6221, see http://www5.hrsdc.gc.ca/NOC/English/NOC/2006/ViewAllTitles.aspx?val=6&val1=6221 then it is also skill level B.

With 30 hours a week, you will reach the 3900 hours in 130 weeks which is 2.5 years. With 50 hours a week, you still have to complete 2 full years before applying.

Thanks again Leon. Although 9 out of the 12 duties are similar to what I do under technical sales specialist, I have a feeling it is meant more for industrial and equipment related work, which is not what I do. I think it is wise to look for alternative, and one that I can think of is to apply as I have a full time permanent job offer, which I do. But again the problem is I am not too sure about LMO. I am here as a dependent of international student and have a valid work permit until the end of the year extendable to another 3 years (which is obviously a work permit employable in any unrestricted field). In this case I think LMO is mandatory and I am least hopeful about my employer taking the trouble of filing it on my behalf (although I have a very good relation why should they walk this extra mile to get my services). Even if they do, I am even not sure about the level of difficulty of getting it. Do you have any experience about similar situation? Needless to mention how much I will appreciate a response. Regards, T
