Different birth of place in birth certificate and passport

Hello Everyone,

I need to know about different birth of place in birth certificate and passport. My birth certificate indicates only village name while in my passport my birth place indicates district.
Please suggest what should i do?

My suggestion get an affidavit from a lawyer (in Canada) to be on safer side along with your marks cards and explain your situation in a covering letter and send your application.

Hi Seniors,

I am also in the same situation.
I am from India.
My place of birth in birth certificate is town name but in passport it is taluk name, State name .
Birth certificate also has 1 line that mentions that town belongs to that taluk.
So, technically both should be same.
Do I need to provide any explanation for this?
In general application which one I need to mention as place of birth?
As in birth certificate or in passport?
Please help !!!
