Well I have a funny situation. I sent in all the forms to get my temporary resident status reinstated at the end of last month but today just got the confirmation of permanent residence. :P

Are refunds issued on these kinds of things or is that $200 for the visa just gone? We're excited to have the permanent resident status confirmed but are curious anyway.

It is a matter of timing, if your visa started BEFORE CoPR was issued then you would not have been elegible thus the refund will take place. Otherwise it is gone.

Ah okay. The CoPR was issued on the 17th looks like. So if the visa was issued before the 17th I can/will get a refund, but if it's issued after the 17th I cannot, correct?

Not the visa, the process. The first step for any application is to determine if you are elegible and with a CoPR you are not. If that step was completed AFTER CoPR was issued then you will have your money back.
