Did your sponsor give you gifts?

I could understand why they asked all other questions in IMM5490, but this? I just don't get it. What is that supposed to tell the immigration officer? What are they trying to figure out by this? I am just intensely curious.

We gave each other DVD's (I explained what kind) - no flowers or candies. We are practical

Just to know that the relationship was genuine such kind of questions are asked in the forms and IFF the interview is conducted they do ask for cross matching again with the intention whether you are in genuine relationship or not.

If it is an arranged marriage they might exchange gifts at the first meeting. If you did not that's OK, as in most cultures it would not be normal. However, if you gave each other gifts at other times, I would mention this.
