Hello!
On CIC website it now states that time working from abroad while being a full-time worker for a Canadian company counts as days towards PR status as per link below:
https://ircc.canada.ca/english/helpcentre/answer.asp?qnum=1466&top=10

I remember the was not the case before. Before, it stated that it would only count if it was part of the duties of the job etc. Does this mean I can now work from a different country as a digital nomad while still having the days counting towards my PR renewal?

Thank you!

No change.

It appears you have misread the FAQ answer. The difference between what "may" count and what "will" count is not merely semantics, but a reference to the conditional nature of the working-abroad-for-Canadian-business credit, and yes those conditions (that it be a temporary assignment is a key one) still apply. Similarly the word "need" in the FAQ answer likewise references the particular conditions necessary for the employment abroad to qualify for the credit.

That is, while the FAQ answer fails to adequately put many on notice of the underlying conditions for the credit, all it says, still, is that a PR working abroad may qualify for the credit, not that just working abroad for a Canadian business itself will qualify for the credit.
