Hi All. I got an email from Access to Information and Privacy (ATIP) regarding my GCMS request for my wife's sponsorship. Here's the email..

We regret to inform you that we are unable to process your request for the following reason:

The consent [wife] is required to process your request and allow us to release your spouse’s information to you. To be valid, a consent must be signed, recently dated, contain the printed name of the person giving consent and identifies you as the designated individual. Please ensure that the consent form is signed by all applicable parties, including client, principal applicant, sponsor and spouse if applicable, and has the signature date and date of birth.

Then they sent me a link to this form http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/department/atip/form-imm5744.asp

Was I supposed to make a request for the notes of my file rather than my wife's?

They want a reply by Feb 10.

Thanks!

Your wife has to sign a consent form so that you can see both of your information. Just send them a consent form signed and dated and you'll be fine :) both of you are in the same notes so you have to have her consent to actually recieve the notes. I hope that makes sense
