Did Extended Stay application take care of both VISA Expiring and 6 months Stay?

Hi,
My mom landed on 24-AUG-2015 and her V-1 visa is expiring on 01-Jan-2016. Now we are applying for extended stay. My question is once she get approval on extended stay, Do I need to apply again on 24-Feb-2016 because of 6 months stay in Canada is going to be over OR she'll get a reset on days when issued new extended stay permission ?

If the extension is approved, she will be given a new number of days that she is allowed to remain in Canada. That extension may be six months or it could be a shorter period of time.
