Did anyone go to the seminar by Chris Alexander on Saturday in Mississauga?

A friend's friend went and he said that Chris Alexander stated that right now they are waiting for all the previous year's LMIA candidates and then when that is exhausted at a later date people below 600 will get picked. Now this is second hand information; did anyone in the GTA go to that? Just wanted to know what he exactly said.

Really? Well they must be finished with them by now considering the points went as low as 735. There are new ones joining every day of course

I too would be very interested in a confirmation. It sounds too much like something everyone would want to hear.

Well I remember listening to a speech Chris Alexander made around Christmas 2014 which was an intro to EE and he said that they did anticipate inviting a lot of candidates without LMIA/PNP so it's just a matter of time before it goes below 600 (but not everybody has a lot of time on their visa to wait). Does anyone know the speech I'm referring to? A couple of people posted a link to it on the CEC boards in December of last year but I can't find it when I google it

Hmmm no it wasn't on cicnews (which I don't trust as a source for anything) and I think it was the minister but I can't say for sure which I know isn't much help... I'll have a proper look for it later when i finish work!

Maybe you are referring to the tele-press conference held in December? IIRC, it was hosted by a CIC spokesperson, not Alexander himself. The recordings was posted here somewhere...

Oh possibly, well apologies if I'm wrong about it being the minister I would still put reliance on an official CIC spokesperson and it would align with what Praneet87 heard the minister may have said... though like everyone else on here I'd like a more reliable account of either quote and a link to a transcript of an official speech would be nice. CIC's secrecy surrounding the new system is perplexing and infuriating in equal measure

I believe that conference is for the press only and not meant to be public to us for example. That recording seems to be leaked out too :-X

But I would be very interested in this speech @praneet87 mentioned about the EE system, that would give us some insight whether giving ITA to <600 points is something out of Chris Alexander's bureaucracy or does he really mean it.
