Detroit office closed -mail not delivered

hi friends,
i sent my passport for visa issuance to Detroit on Nov 5th.
US post recd it on Nov 9 and tried to deliver it to consulate office on Nov 10th but due to Saturday office was closed. The US post employee left a notice in their mailbox to Reschedule the delivery.
I am worried do the consulate office call the post office to redeliver the mail or my mail will be returned to me ? Please help!

I almost have the same situation. Today is veteran day in US so USPS will not deliver anything. The consulate will be open tomorrow and USPS will hopefully try to redeliver your package tomorrow. I would suggest to call USPS and ask about how many attempts they will try before returning your package. Ask them if you can provide your credit card info if they need to charge for extra attempts if that's an option.

i called them, they just do 1 attempt and left a notice if nobody recieve the mail. Now, only consulate can call them to redeliver or can pick it up. we can't do anything.

it hasn't been attempted for delivery yet. I should have used fedex and just put the express post for return. I don't know my I made this strategic mistake. I never trusted canada post with my passport. if your package was returned, use fedex to re ship it. They have a next day delivery service and they attempt several times.Lets hope for the best.

I have contacted canadapost minutes earlier. They are suggesting that a delivery notice was left. They can not provide further detail and asked me to contact USPS. I have the contact number and will try to contact them. At this moment, they are closed.

I hope somebody from consulate office will pick our mails from post office today. As its not only our mails, daily hundreds of mails are mailed to them , so they should be aware of post office notices. Lets see till afternoon, our status should change to delivered.

MDITTRICH is the person who signed it. Hopefully, MDITTRICH is from immigration.

I think it's for the benefit of others to suggest not to use canada post for sending our passports to detroit. Fedex is more reliable and a lot faster than canada post. I have always used fed ex to keep my adrenaline level relatively low. Albeit except this time.

My package has not been delivered yet. USPS told me that my package will be delivered by wednesday. I called them and they told me they can't provide more information. They said cana post needs to send an international inquiry so they can dig this further. I called canada post and after one hour of fight, they opened a case for me. However they said it might take up to two weeks for uspa to start acting on this. I am really desperate and really don't know what todo. Should i contact the consulate and inquire about my package? Do they answer to phone calls or email inquiries. Any suggestion is welcomed.

Your package should be delivered by usps. They have not made even a single attempt to deliver it to consulate right? so why u had a case with canadapost and all tht trouble ?

Hi Panna,

The eta from canada post for delivering the package was 1-2 business days. It has been 9 business days so far and there has been no attempt for delivery. I called usps and after 45 mins they initiated an inbound inquiry as well. If my passport gets lost I won't be able to get a new one in few months. Not to mention my application will be cancelled after 30 days.
This is not the happy ending I was expecting. I had a friend who had lost his passport with USPS few years ago. I am almost starting to panic.
