Hello,
Im a sales & Marketing manager working in a Radio station in Colombo . Im having difficulty in determining if i should apply under 0124 (Advertising, marketing and public relations managers) or 0601 (Corporate sales managers) My actual day to day work includes a bit of whats mentioned under both descriptions . Can someone pls help me with this.
Also, I joined this company as an Assistant Sales Manager 10 years ago , I was made Sales & Marketing manager only 1 1/2 years ago, can i claim maximum points for work experience as my total work experience is 12 years , or can i only claim for 01 year as i only have 01 year under specified NOC ( Sales & Marketing Manager)
Your responses much appreciated. Thanks in advance !

While selecting the NOC, the duties and responsibilities mentioned in the NOC should be a close match with the actual duties and responsibilities carried out by you at the respective job. You need not match the duties and responsibilities word by word, but the idea is to have the closest match in terms of the spirit of the duties and responsibilities (at least 60%-70% match).

Also, NOC should be selected on the basis of the match of actual duties and responsibilities carried out by you rather than the designation match in the NOC list. However, still if you need a clarification, I would suggest that you write to noc@workingincanada.gc.ca with your duties and responsibilities, they will help you find the closest fit.

You can claim points for maximum 3 years of work exp. as per IRCC rules. So you can choose that NOC code as your intended NOC code for Canada in which you have more than 3 years work exp. to give you the opportunity to claim maximum CRS points.

Thank you for your kind response ! so , even though the bulk of my experience is as an asst manager, i can still claim points for 3 years ? technically does an asst manager also fall under the "manager" classification? i really hope so ! ( My duties have remained the same from asst manager to manager and is a close fit to NOC 0601 - Corporate sales manager )
Any input is greatly appreciated .

What do you mean by "Manager" classification?? As long as your job duties still match up with that particular NOC code, then you are fine.

Many thanks for the clarification !
I meant technically would an assistant manager be considered a 'deputy manager' and not actually a manager? But my job role has been the same from assistant manager to manager so i hope I'm in the safe zone.
Also what percentage of Job description should match ? mine is about a 70 % match to CIC's specifications of Corporate Sales Manager

I would also recommend to attach the email received from noc@workincanada.ca to the reference letter you will upload when submitting the application

You can use 1123 0124 being more niche in the same category.

I am also 0124 but using 1123

I work with Lowe Lintas & Partners (Advertising Agency)
