I overstayed my student visa in UK by a year and was deported with 2 year ban as I did not pay for my return ticket. This was in the year 2012 and the ban was over long back. Now, I am starting a fresh and planning to apply for Canada PR. Will I be rejected? As I was not deported for any criminal offence. Can I ever get a Canada PR Visa?

Yes - you can apply for PR. Make sure you are 100% honest in your application about your immigration history including the UK overstay, deportation and ban.

Hi, I also want to enquire about a case where someone was deported from the UK in 2007 whilst being outside of UK, visiting home country, on 'conducive for public good' grounds that the home secretary used. Is it prudent to first hire solicitor in the UK and appeal against it and then apply for Canada PR, Or hire an immigration lawyer in Canada for representation, Or proceed with a direct application explaining everything without hiring any law firm's services? I ask this again as the home secretary of the UK deemed to use the power of excluding that individual on grounds of it being 'conducive for public good'.
