This is Rana from Pakistan. I was deported from Canada as failed refugee in Jan 2011, and my Canadian born wife came to Pakistan and we got married. Now she have housing from Ontario housing and she is also on disability.
We are looking to file sponsorship in Oct. I still have to repay my removal cost. Do i need an ARC?
and should i apply for ARC before my sponsorship or with the sponsorship?
If we repay removal cost in Canada its $1500 but if we pay it here in Pakistan then its only about $1100. Is it ok to repay it here? and submit the receipts along with the file in Canada?
I am also looking to apply for visit visa to join my wife and her family on Xmas. where should i start from?
Can u please guide me step by step. and any tips to speed up the sponsorship as they are taking 26 months from Canadian embassy in Pakistan
best regards

See the link, yes you need an Arc, in terms of a visit visa looks unlikely they will
give you one.

Also your spouse can't sponsor you if she is on welfare.

There is nothing much you can do to speed up your case. I would go for the ARC first. If you have been banned from Canada for x years, there is no point in trying to apply for sponsorship until you have that cleared up.

I do not know if you can pay your removal costs from where you are or if you must pay in Canada. Surely they gave you some paperwork on how to pay it back or who to contact. You must contact them to deal with the payments.

You can not make the processing time in Pakistan faster but if you get a work permit in another country that has a faster processing time, you could get processed there instead. The criteria is that you have been allowed to enter that country with at least a 1 year visa.

If your wife is ill and you want to be with her, you could try applying for a TRP but you must take care of the ARC first.

Leon - If he's applying for spousal sponsorship, the instructions actually indicate that he should apply for spousal sponsorship and then the ARC (and repayment of flight costs) will be handled as part of the process. He should not apply for the ARC separately. See:

http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/information/inadmissibility/arc.asp#a2

If you are applying to come to Canada for any reason, (visiting, studying, working or immigrating),you should not submit a separate application for an ARC. If your application is approved, the ARC will be dealt within the context of that application. You will simply be asked to submit the fee.

Include as much evidence as you can to prove your relationship is genuine when you apply for spousal sponsorship. Since you are a failed refugee claimant - you need to prove your relationship is real and not just a means for you to return to Canada.

yes thats for sure, we have $700 worth callings cards, westren unions receipts, emails, facebook, and skype chat logs. and we also have exchange gifts and cards on special occasions like bdays, valentines day and stuff. and lot of pictures together including with my family and reletives and also when she was here in Pakistan she didnt want to leave and we had to extend the air ticket for her flight back to Canada. N she left Pakistan on the last date of her visit visa expiry. That should tell something immigration. and we been talking on daily basis 3-4 times a day in past almost 2 years. only skipped 1 day.

That evidence all sounds good.

Keep in mind that you have more to prove that the average application because of your failed refugee claim and the deportation. So you should expect the processing of your application to take quite a bit of time and don't be surprised if you're called for an interview. It's really too bad that you didn't leave Canada when you were issued the departure order and told to leave - and let it turn into a deportation order. This is going to work against you. But it's in the past and you obviously can't go back in time and fix your mistakes.

The OP should note that calling cards really don't prove anything. There is no indication on the number called nor the number called from.

If the immigration officers abroad have any sense, any intelligence- you will NEVER be allowed back. Go run your scams somewhere else.

It always amazes me when people weave a web for themselves and then expect a different outcome. Suing the immigration officer? Just who will pay the lawyer fees?hmmm I really hope for her sake this guy is genuine, but there are red flags everywhere.
