Dependents who live abroad, while parent live in Canada

I live in Canada but I came here on a visitor visa and my husband will be sponsoring me for permanent residency but my dependents don't live in Canada. Does anyone know how long after i send my application for PR before they can join me in Canada?

You need to include your dependents in your own PR application. You will all get PR together, so the time for them is the same as for you.

Yes i plan on including them, I was just unsure as to whether I needed to do an outland application for them since they live abroad cause I plan to do mine inland.

You say your husband will be sponsoring you , so you haven't sent the paper work in yet . If your dependents are over the age of *18 * they will need to get a criminal police record check and all dependents will need an upfront medical .They will also have to fill out the additional family information form and a declaration form.

I believe with an inland application, it's only the principal applicant (you) that needs to stay in Canada during processing. Your dependents are included in the same app, but they don't need to be inside Canada during processing. I'm not certain on all the details though, like how/where dependents send passports for visa stamping and getting COPR while principal applicant wouldn't need to do this.

Its going to depend on what country they are from , if they need to send their passports .The corp will go to the address they put on their forms when they filled out the additional family information form. This is how the U.k works being visa exempt , don't know much about non visa exempt countries.

this is a really good question I was just going to have my step daughter forward her passport to us in Canada when we get to the 8 month mark on stage 1. We are doing an inland application. I don't know if CIC would mail something to the Philippines asking for a passport from a dependent. Id feel safer to have all the medical, passports mailed from within Canada.
