Help me on this one pls.

I'm about to send in the application to sponsor my spouse from Jamaica to Canada and it says that his kids need to do a medical also even though they won't be accompanying him when he comes. If the medical expires 12 months later and they won't be sponsored before then why does it need to be done? and then it's going to have to be done again which is spending more money?

Hi and come on over to the Kingston, Jamaica thread and join us!

To answer your question, yes the medical has to be done, and re-done even though they may be non-accompanying. By getting the medicals done for non-accompanying dependents, you preserve the right to sponsor them if it becomes necessary in the future. You also comply with the requirements of IRPA because an inadmissible dependent, whether accompanying or not, can make a primary applicant inadmissible as well. So part of your husband proving HE is not inadmissible is to show that his dependents are not inadmissible as well.
