Dependent visa for Spouse

Hello ,

I recently got married and moved to Canada on a work permit . And my wife s staying back in India .
I would like to get more details to bring my wife as a dependent where she holds an open work permit.


Is there a difference between a dependent visa and an open work permit ? My employer is supposed to arrange her visa and in case they are delaying things, i was having an assumption that she can travel with her visitor visa to canada and then get the visa changed when she is here. Please correct me if i am wrong .
