dependent children financials?

Hello all,
Quick question. I have been getting conflicting information from various sources (including CIC call centre).

I will be sponsoring my spouse. He has a non-accompanying dependent child. Am i still exempt from the financial requiements?

You will have to provide us with documents that show your financial resources for the past 12 months and prove you are financially able to sponsor members of the family class. You may solicit the help of a co-signer (must be your spouse or common-law partner). If you reside in Quebec, see also Sponsors living in Quebec.

This condition does not apply if you are sponsoring only

* your spouse, common-law or conjugal partner who has no dependent children, or
* your spouse, common-law or conjugal partner whose dependent children have no children of their own, or
* your dependent child who has no children of his or her own.

Seems to me that you fall under number 2, spouse whose dependent child has no dependent children of their own.

Spousal and dependent child sponsorships are income exempt - and you do not need a co-signer!!!

OP2 Processing Manual - Section 10.3

Sponsors of dependent children and of spouses, common-law partners or conjugal partners
(unless they have dependent children who have dependent children of their own) do not have to
meet financial requirements, but they do undertake to provide for the basic necessities of the
sponsored applicants so that the applicants do not need social assistance.

Leon you said you will have to provide 'us' with documents showing your financial resources for the past 12 months? Who is 'us' do you work for Immigration? That's great if you do, you are the guy to direct all my questions to then but I thought spouse and dependent children were income exempt?? Please clarify do you have to show income for the past 12 months if you are income exempt??

If you went to the link I gave, you would see that my message is just pasted from there.  If you actually read the message I pasted, you see that it does say that the financial condition does not apply when you are sponsoring spouse and children only.  I went and formatted the text in it to make it clearer.
