Hi,
Me and my husband are finally planning to take on the spousal sponsorship application. :)

1)We chose the outland application. We had a baby last year and I have already applied for our baby's Citizenship Certificate as her father (my husband and a potentional sponsor) is a Canadian citizen. Right now me and the baby are residing in Latvia. My husband is in Canada.
As a matter of fact our baby is a Canadian citizen. We just have to receive her papers (in approx 6 months).
Do I have to include her in my application as my dependant to be sponsored along with me??? Doesn't really make sense. However at the time of submitting our application she won't have her Citizenship Certificate received yet.

2)If I apply being in Latvia, can I go to Canada while my application is in progress??? At which phase can i do so? Do I need to get approval?

3)It also says me and each of my family members have to complete the upfront medical examination. Do they mean my dependants? or my parents? or both? If I don't include them (my parents) whether or not I will be able to sponsor my parents in the future???

4)At last, do I enclose the Marriage Certificate long or short form?

I'd be trully greatful if I get my questions answered.

Thank you and have a great day! ;)

Since she is already Canadian, she does NOT need to be included as a dependent. So no fees, and no medical is required for her. Simply submit proof of her Canadian citizenship, and include her only in the "additional family info" form.

Sure you can go to Canada anytime. Latvia is visa-exempt to Canada, so you would simply go whenever you wanted to. If you've already submitted the app, bring proof of it (fees paid, delivery receipt, sponsor approval, etc) to show CBSA as they are usually pretty easy on people with PR apps in progress who want to wait out the process in Canada. Just make sure you understand you're a VISITOR until you get PR, so never say to CBSA you are "moving" or "living" in Canada. It sometimes helps to have a return airplane ticket also.

3)It also says me and each of my family members have to complete the upfront medical examination. Do they mean my dependants? or my parents? or both? If I don't include them (my parents) whether or not I will be able to sponsor my parents in the future???
Only you, and any kids you may have who are not citizens of Canada. Parents, siblings, etc don't do any medicals or pay any fees. They are simply listed under "additional family info" form and that's it. It doesn't affect ability to sponsor parents in the future.

What if her Citizenship Certificate isn't ready yet? Can I submit a notarized photocopy of her translated Birth Certificate where her father is written in?

Thank you thank you sooo much! :)

Yes you can do that, and write a short explanation stating she is Canadian citizen and you are in process of getting all the paperwork done. They may or may not ask for you to send it in later, but I think in most cases if the dad's name is on birth certificate and they can see dad was born in Canada from his passport so can pass on citizenship, that should be enough.

If my application is going through Warshaw I might or might not be asked to come for an interview (hopefully not) to Warshaw. So I think that would be wiser to go to Canada when I know for sure I don't have to come in for an interview.
Will they let me know that I am passed that possible interview stage?
Also, will all the correspondence come to Latvia (including PR Card)? When I get all my papers to Canada, do I have to do so called "flag-poling" on the USA border?

Genuinely greatful!! :D

Hello!

While my sponsorship (outland) application is processed in Warsaw VO if I go to Canada, and I am requested to send my passport, can I mail it to Warsaw from Canada?? And will they mail it back to me? or how it works??

Thank you a lot!!

If you are visa-exempt, they usually only ask for passport copies. Let them know when you go to Canada, and update your address. That way they will (should) send the COPR to you in Canada, then you can flagpole, or get an appointment at a CIC office.

yup, I am visa-exempt.
They mail it to my address? I won't go to my email?
Do I update my address using my UCI number on CiC website?

Thanx a lot! :)

Your COPR is an official document, so you need the original to land. You keep one copy, which you will need later if you want to apply for citizenship. So there is no way to e-mail it to you.

You update online, but I would also recommend notifying the VO (Warsaw). Sometimes the two don't talk to each other, and while one is updated, they happily send off your vital documents to an outdated address.

Thank you soo much for letting me know these little details!

It would be so much harder if not for the forums like this!!

I see you applied through Warsaw VO. May I ask if you submitted the original or just a photocopy of your Marriage Certificate?? (if you were married in Canada)
And also.. long or short form of the Marriage Certificate is what CIC wants? Cause what I have right now, is a long-form certified copy of filled out and signed Marriage License issued by Service Ontario.

:D

I submitted a notarized copy of the marriage certificate, as it was indicated in our country guide (Russia). We did not get married in Canada though (spouse has been refused visas 4 times). I have no idea about the long or short form, since mine only came in one option.
