Hi everyone, I searched throught the website, but didn't find anything as specific as my question...

My brother filed a Parent Sponsorship for my mother and I as a dependant child back in 2008. Recently we got our forms to fill out and I'm almost done. However, before sending them I have a very pertinent question:

My dad is not married to my mom, they're in a common law relationship for years. I do list him as her dependant as well, but he will not be going with us NOW, he will be going later on (that's why I listed him, because if I didn't the guide says she won't be able to sponsor him later). In the question where they ask if he will be accompanying her or not, should I put yes or no? I initially put no, and in the field left to explain I said "not included in this sponsorship". But now I'm wondering, should I put yes and explain he won't be going with us and only later?

Thanks a lot for the help!

That depends on what you mean by "now" and "later". If you mean, yes, he is immigrating but will not leave the country at the same time as you and your mother, then you need to list him as accompanying so he can get his visa and he will be able to land at any time before it expires. To list him as non-accompanying means he is NOT immigrating at all but is only being listed so that you comply with the requirements to list all dependents.

Hi Charlie, thanks for your reply.

Now that I read it again, my explanation isn't so clear ;s Sorry.

What I meant is, my mother and I are being sponsored by my brother. But my dad was never included in the applicaiton filed in 2008 by my brother, because our plans are my mom and I land there, get financially stable and everything, THEN my mother will sponsor my dad. About a year (maybe less) later. So I guess in that case, I should still put no, right?

In that case, yes, he is non-accompanying on this application.

Thank you very much for your help and attention :)

You know that he has to have the medical exam and "be examined" or he can never be sponsored?

Yes, that I know, I read in the guide. :) Thanks!
