Denied Citizenship due to lack of proof of English

I recently applied for my Canadian Citizenship for the 2nd time. I have now been rejected twice for "lack of proof of English"
When i was rejected the first time (at 53 yrs old) i went to my MP and he told me to re-apply when i was 55 because the requirement for English is removed.
Well, I am now 55 and recently sent in my new updated application and i have been rejected again for the same reason.
I am typing this question myself so i'm sure it's obvious that i can speak, read and write English.
I was born and raised in Scotland. I came to Canada when i was 14 and took English in grades 10, 11, 12 which i passed. Although i attempt to speak in foreign languages when abroad on vacation, English is my first and only fluent language.
I am at a loss as to why I've been rejected for lack of proof of English.
I want to become a Canadian Citizen but i am so angry and frustrated. I was told by my M.P. that my only option is to take English classes and submit the required documentation for that and that "should solve my problem"
I spoke better English than my M.P. and was disgusted that this was all he was going to to do for me. I am at a loss now as i am told i have no solution to this problem.
Can someone please guide me in the right direction as to what i can do next.
thank you
Alexander.

Take the IELTS examination. It's the best proof that you will find.

It boggles my mind that i have to do this but can i do this test online?
Not as far as I am aware. I'm pretty much in the same position as you as far as "English" proof is concerned. I have an English Language O-level pass from when I was a kid, many, many years ago, but that's all.

thanks.. Its just ridiculous.. I checked and you have to go to one of their centres to take the test and it costs $309. Another tax grab?
so to get my citizenship it's going to cost me almost $1000 whereas they just give it away to some.

The exam fee is paid to some org in UK, I don't think the Canadian government gets much out of it.. maybe 13% HST?
I never heard of citizenship being given away to some... I want to sign up for that!

Don't get me started on who they are giving it away to, then i'll never get mine if they read these posts lol...
Canada surely must get part of the money, including the HST.

Unfortunately the age was increased from 55 to 65 since 2015 under the new law.

Any proof of secondary or post-secondary education from Scotland or Canada will do.

But it's still the most ridiculous part of law. The requirement should be waived to people from English native countries like other English countries do.

By the way I enjoy Scotish English more than North American English and Scotish English is much more culturally rich. The English in this country is so pain and tasteless compare to Britain.

The Canada web site still shows 55 so they should bloody honor that. If they're too damn lazy to update their information. even my local MP didn't know that the age was raised from 55-65.
I finished Grade 12 here but unfortunately my paperwork is long gone, except for a transcript that clearly showed i graduated.
I agree, it should be waived for english native countries but then what would happen? Claims of racism from the others of course.
I'm glad you prefer the Scottish english than the NA english. After living in Canada all these years it's scary to see how "american" the UK is becoming though.

Any documents such as transcript or diploma will do. They may be requested from schools archive if you lost them.

Actually it's Canada which is racism to not recognize English spoken in other more culturally rich English countries even the country which invented English. I often witness British people being laughed at or not understandable of their English in this country. While in Britain, everyone is proud to speak English in different style and it's the cultural and social identity of each person.
