Hello Dear,

I really need your urgent help. I found an employer ,who already applied for me LMO for food Delivery Driver in Alberta .

I would like to ask if i work as food Delivery Driver in Alberta for more than 6 months, will this experience lead me to apply for PR. if not then what option i will have after working more than 6 months as food Delivery Driver in Alberta to apply for PR.

Hi,

To be able to apply for PR after one year experience, your job type has to be under skilled worker's category.

2. If your application is eligible for processing, you must also meet the following minimum requirements to qualify as a skilled worker:

* you have at least one year of continuous full-time paid work experience or the equivalent in part-time continuous employment, AND
* your work experience must be Skill Type 0 (managerial occupations) or Skill Level A (professional occupations) or B (technical occupations and skilled trades) on the Canadian National Occupational Classification list

You can with AINP Employer driven Stream (semi skilled), if your job type is :

Long haul: Drivers depart for destinations thousands of kilometers away from home. They cross inter-provincial boundaries and travel over international routes across North America. Drivers are away from home for several days per week or weeks at a time. A long haul driver is one who operates a tractor-trailer combination vehicle and hauls commercial goods over long distances.

Long haul truck drivers are eligible under the AINP.

Probably if you'd been here long enough as a TWF and your employer changes your job type into high skilled level.

Supposing your NOC is what is shown at http://www5.hrsdc.gc.ca/NOC/English/NOC/2006/Occupations.aspx?val=7 as 7414 Delivery and Courier Service Drivers then that is not a skilled job and will severely limit your immigration options.

If you currently meet the requirements to apply under the federal skilled worker category, that is 67 or more points on the self-assessment and at least 1 year continuous employment in a skilled occupation at some point in the past but you are missing one of the ministerial categories such as 1 of 38 occupations, job offer or already in Canada, then you could take the delivery driver job and apply as a skilled worker after 1 year in Canada under federal skilled worker, category 3.

If you do not meet these requirements for skilled worker, you can look into provincial nominee programs. They are different from province to province. Some of them offer immigration for certain low skilled occupations. As posted by job_seeker, AINP has truck drivers on their list and so do BC and SK. The delivery driver job could be a way for you to get to Canada to work towards getting a truck driver job in one of these 3 provinces. If you could get some other job on their low skilled lists, that would work too but your employer would also need to support your immigration for it to work.

If you could get a skilled job, even better because that would open other immigration options for you. For example, even without employer support, you would be able to apply for your PR under Canadian experience class after 2 years of working in a skilled occupation.

My friend in back home is Computer Graphic Designer, and he is the manager, supervise and oversee his department. Does he fall under NOC 0213 CIS? He is not a computer/software designer or developer.
