Deliver LETTER re: application in progress to CIC office in person?

Hello,

I will be sending a letter to my local processing office today, and I was wondering if it would be ok/useful/acceptable to deliver it in person. I am very close to the immigration office in Vancouver, so it would be very simple for me to hand-deliver my letter rather then mailing it.

I know hand-delivering would be faster and also ensure I know it was delivered, but I am wondering if anyone else has done it, and if it had any implications? I searched the forum but wasn't able to find other threads on this.

I think it would be faster out of your hands, but not faster into the hands of the people who will take the next step.

All applications go to the centralised intake office, so the local office in Vancouver will probably just mail it onwards to Nova Scotia. And who know how long it will take them to get around to doing that.

Just mail it to the place it says on the application forms, and use the fastest method of guaranteed tracked postage you're willing to pay for. You'll know it's delivered when you get a signature notification.

EDIT: Oh I just realised you said letter, not application. My comment applies if you're sending an initial application. Not sure about just a letter, sorry.

It’s important to send your information via email or post if you go to the office they wouldn’t accept any letter or mail from you as requested mails have to be vetted

FYI: I went in person to 200 - 877 Expo Boulevard, downtown Vancouver. The security person at the door simply took my letter, and told me he would stamp it as having arrived today, then soon he would walk the letter to the mailroom, where they would check my info provided in the letter in the computer system, then forward it to my Citizenship Officer, as applicable. He was very pleasant, and it seemed like this is a routine thing. No big deal at all.

On Sep 11, they requested my fingerprints. I did them on Sep 14. Then I called on the 28th to confirm they received the results, but the call centre agent told me they had not received it yet. He advised me to send the receipts to my processing office just to show they had been completed, even though it was still the time frame (30 days). He said after 30 days and with proof I had completed the FPs, the CO on my case could prod RCMP to get the results. So, I went there and handed in a letter with a LoE and the receipts.

I called them again today, and they confirmed the FPs have been received by them from RCMP. The wait continues!

Its a painful wait. Hoping they finish you all within one year . If not then at least by 24 months. Anything beyond that would be absurd.

I only sent my application in June, 2018. I am hoping for much shorter than a year, but you never know. All in all, it's a bureaucratic process and there's no point raging or feeing outraged. I am a permanent resident, I can work, study, come and go. Nothing in my life hinges on this application (unlike the PR application). Waiting is not great, but it is what it is. I accept whatever comes my way.
