Hi
I just need 1 point(Federal Skilled Immigration).
Can i take DELF (A1 and A2 level exam) rather then TEF exam?
DELF exam is valid for immigration purpose?

They ask for TEF. If you take something else or use other documentation to prove your French, they will probably give you 2 points for basic French but it's up to their discretion.

Hi Leon

As you said they will probably give me 2 points, thats what i need just 1 point.
I am planning to learn french for 8 month with DELF ( A1 and A2 level with exam).
What do u think will it help or not?
Could you please explain me what is the difference between DELF and TEF?
Because no-one in my city teach french with TEF.

Thanks for your kind response

TEF is an exam, see http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/immigrate/skilled/language-testing.asp

You can find testing centres on this website: http://www.fda.ccip.fr/tef/centres

TEF is the only test which immigration can not disagree with. If you get 1 points or more on TEF and send in those results, they have to give you that. If you send some other evidence, they can decide what points they'd like to give you which could be zero or they can ask you to take the TEF.

Alliance Francaise mainly takes the TEF exam worldwide. Check your country Alliance Francaise website and I am sure you can get to know all about TEF exam including test dates, Reg. fee, etc.

Hi,
Even i am not sure about this DELF Vs TEF. I agree there is a lot confusion. When i ask AF people in my city, they are surprised as well that DELF is not accepted.

Also the level of TEF exam is not known, not even to the AF teachers.

Could somebody guide!!!

Cheers

The OP has to take TEF, DELF is not acceptable. Here is the ruling of the Federal Court regarding regarding tests other than TEF http://decisions.fct-cf.gc.ca/en/2009/2009fc1143/2009fc1143.html

According to this case,he had given document(berlitz language school) for french language which is recognized locally or national level. but delf is recognized internationally. If u see quebec immigration, they consider DELF then how comes cic doesnot consider delf even quebec is a part of canada.

Because CIC doesn't recognize DELF, if you don't like, complain to CIC, see how far you get.

In your last post, you had specified some link which u think it is related to DELF. But if you carefully look at the case, that case is not related to delf. Recently i heard from someone that cic do recognize DELF as a supporting document. They dont deny fully..

Although in the LINK the court case is regarding the use of Berlitz results, the ruling confirms that CIC has the ability to accept what language test it is feels is appropriate.

As I said before, TEF is the only test which immigration can not disagree with. If you send some other evidence, they can decide what points they'd like to give you which could be zero or they can ask you to take the TEF. Just because one IO took notice of DELF doesn't mean that they had to and doesn't mean that another IO would have done the same.
