Has anyone ever experienced delays getting their SIN after landing. It has been over three weeks and I am still yet to receive mine. I am on the verge of losing a job offer as the employer will not hire me without the SIN but Service Canada cannot give me a deadline for receiving my SIN.

Is there any way I can expedite or escalate the process? :'(

Why is the delay for? Did you apply for sin in mail? Walk in to Service Canada and they should issue it right there in 5 mins.

I landed on the August 13th and applied in person on August 15th at a Service Canada office. The rep said they needed to verify my landing document with Immigration and Citizenship. I was told this verification process takes 5-6 working days, but still no luck.

If they have more offices in the city, walk in to a different one and see what they say. If it's the same ask for a supervisor and talk to him/her about your problem. There is always a boss who can do a lot more than simple workers.

First lesson in Canada: most office workers work like little robots, and are unable to think if a case is out of their guidelines. They don't want to do mistakes and are not willing to find alternative ways. They care only about their portfolio and not you. If you ask for a supervisor they can solve problems.

Yep walk into an office and they'll sort it.

I went into the office twice on the 2nd day and had two completely different people. The 2nd one called the first guy an "idiot" for not taking my phone number.
I didn't think he was an idiot, but then he failed to copy my address from my driving license onto my SIN correctly so go figure.

It should take 10 mins max. Arrive at the office Tuesday first thing, shorter delays that way - if you are in a major center.

Like the other posters said, walk into a local Service Canada with your COPR. If you landed on a weekend then the validation process is delayed but just by a few days (2-3 days max). NOTHING will be mailed to you unless you filled out a paper application upon landing. It sounds like this did not happen but just in case it did it would take up to 30 business days to process. If you go into a local office ask for Rush/expedidited processing and have your employers info with you in order to process sooner with supervisors approval. Good luck.
