Deifference bet academic and general Ielts?

Hi All,

Anybody please tell me if all the section i.e. reading, writing, speaking, listening are different for academic and genaral Ielts. I have come to know that only lisetning and reading are different, speaking and writing are same.

Anybody who has appeared for both general and academic Ielts?

In terms of answering the same questions, Only listening section is the same in both formats.

1. Speaking questions are asked differently to each applicant but format is the same.
2. Reading passages are different in difficulty level(tough in academic module) but question types are the same,
3. In academic module, you need to write an essay and describe details from a graph/table..etc On the other hand, in general module, you need to write a letter. On the whole, Academic module is a bit tough.

Listening and speaking is same for both general and academic. However writing and reading section are different for general and academic. Overall academic is pretty difficult than general because it is specially for students.

Are there any different approached to assign the grades for Academic and General Test, e.g Are they more lenient in giving Marks to General Test candidates.

No lineant marking. Overall general training pattern is bit easy than academic but there is no leniency in marking.
