Hi everyone,

Can somebody shed me some light and recommendations of my job prospects in Canada. I am 26, Australian, and will be applying for a WHV to work in Canada next year. Perhaps I will work there till 30 to ultimately develop my career.

I have a double degree in HRM/psychology and a degree in accounting. My greatest concern is that I completely lack experience related to ALL my degrees. I am a recent university graduate. It's a scary thought considering how competitive Canada is.

I would hate to work as a cleaner or in fast food. Although the work does not have to be related to my degree, is there any jobs out there for an immigrant of my circumstance that pays a minimum of $30,000? A bonus if it is white collar.

You may get lucky but to be honest I doubt it. Think seriously, what company wants to invest it's time and money training someone in a job, when they know the person is only a temp res.

Most people coming over to Canada to work on this type of visa, usually look for the seasonal jobs. Especially in BC, where the ski industry requires oodles of help during the Winter. Then, after Winter, most will take a summer job, bars, restaurants etc.

Not many come over on a young person visa, aiming to start a career. It`s not impossible for sure but doubtful.

Why not just come over, take a seasonal and enjoy what Canada has to offer a young person.

Appreciate your input. I have thought in regards to the disadvantages of being a temporary worker. Namely, companies reluctant to hire and train temporary workers. However, I am 26, I will be in Canada till 32. That's 6 years. I could convey to employers that. In addition, I intend to apply for PR. Thus, hopefully that will change the picture a little bit.

If you're not picky, you can work in customer support (answering emails regarding a company's product), that usually pays around $31k
