I¡m writing this post because I had recently a little miss understanding concerning the AIP and DM. So I hope this will help other fellow immigrants to not get confused about this issue.
I have received my AIP letter on Jul 18th. (approved, of course). However, my ECAS changed to Decision made on Jul 13th.
Many people think than when the ECAS changes to DM, you will receive the AIP and the DM at the same time. This is not correct, I'm afraid.
The ECAS status changes to DM because the AIP involves a decision, but it's not the final decision about your case. Your medicals have to be examined and your police background checked.
The "decission made" letter usually includes the date of the Landing interview. After passing that interview, you will be granted Permanent Resident Status and all you will have left to do is to wait for you Permanent Resident Card. Which will allow you to travel in and out of Canada.
