Decision Made: What does it really mean?

I am the sponsor of my wife, she is a PR applicant from South Korea. Our process and journey with immigration started almost 2 years ago. Due to language barrier issues when we submitted the application way back in April 2017, I was under the understanding that my wife had no legal issues back in South Korea, and it was only after we were asked to obtain her criminal extract from SK, that I found there was a historic conviction with a fine way back in 2003 for something that happened in 1999. Obtaining court documents and getting them translated into English took a very long time, and we were only able to submit everything with apologies and explanations why it was not mentioned in the beginning with the first set of documents. We also had to apply for a criminal pardon.

Thereafter our timeline has been:
March 2018: Medical tests and RCMP fingerprinting.
April 2018: Notice from IRCC that all documents have been received and processing started.
April 2018: Notice from IRCC that sponsorship application is accepted.
May 2018: Notice from IRCC that criminal pardon application was approved.

and then just SILENCE.... nothing happening.

December 2018: Case management request sent via lawyer to try find out what is going on. Concerns about medical expiring in March. No response from IRCC!

January 22: Email sent to member of parliament to enquire what is going on:
January 23: MP sent in request.
January 25: Notice received from MP office that IRCC has sent them an email stating that "after extensive review" further clarification is required. A letter will be sent out"....
January 27: Status on IRCC website changed from "in process" to "decision made".

So our big question now: What does this mean? There is a big difference between "further clarification required" and "decision made" in our mind?

How long does it take to know what is the decision? We are going nuts on this end with anxiety about the outcome...

Its as simple as it sounds. They made a decision about your case, and they will let you know probably in few days. Hope it will be a PPR.

Although it won't be 100% positive decision, but it is 99.999% that pretty much you guys are at the finish line. Usually, a "decision made" means your application has been approved.

Heard from IRCC today. Permanent residency interview is scheduled for February 12th. So happy and relieved.

Can any body tell us what this interview entails? Do they go over everything once again? What do they ask?

Thanks for some info on this.

It seemed that you guys applied inland application. With the inland application approval, there will be a landing interview at the end of it. The interview itself is just a formality to check the basic info about the applicant, such as identification and any changes of the circumstances, since the approval. Don't worry about it, nothing will be as serious as relationship interview. And if nothing changed, the CIC will grant the PR status to the applicant onsite.

You mean she may be walking out with a PR in her hand that same day?
Not may - that's exactly what it is. Once an applicant lands at the landing appointment, they become a permanent resident. The PR card will come in the mail later, but she will get the Confirmation of Permanent Residence document.
