Decision made already?

Hi everyone!

Last 03/05/10 I received a call from CHC- Pretoria and the lady said "We are now ready to issue your VISA" and they asked me to send my Passport. However, the status in the CAS was only changed today 03/09/10. It says:

Decision Made -A decision has been made on XXX´s application. The office will contact XXX concerning this decision.

My question is, was the phone call that I received last 03/05/10 the decision or am I to expect another decision?

If they said that they are ready to issue my visa, does that mean my application is approved?

If my visa is approved shouldn't CAS say: "Permanent Residence Status Determined"?

I hate the suspense... There are too many questions floating around in my head.

Hi chitotolo,

Congratulations for the good news!!.

I think you are unnecessarily getting worried and tensioned!!. There is no suspence. It is clear that you will get a PR visa.

As there is PPR and they mentioned that the visa will be issued, you need not bother and guess about any other adverse possibilities.

Yes I agree, Congrats!!
It seems you have been approved and don't worry about e-cas, sometimes they update the system
slower than whats going on with your file. In some people's cases they even landed before e-cas had
updated! So don't stress out and congrats to you

Thanks for the reassurance. It's just that the information that I'm getting from CHC is not linear. A couple of hours after posting this thread, my wife received the Acknowledgement receipt from CHC- Pretoria which was addressed to me but mailed to her address in Canada. I'm not sure why they sent the letter to her, because my mailing address in my PR application is here in Angola. I guess they already know that the postal service in this country is technically non existent.

BTW, how do they send back the passport? DHL....regular courrier?

Hi - Congratulations, sounds like you're almost there!

Just wondering when you paid the RPRF? Did you receive a letter or phone call from the visa office requesting the payment or did you pay before? My partner received the AOR informing him his file was being processed on Jan 11, 2010. Then he received provisional acceptance and a letter saying the interview has been waived on Feb 1. Submitted the final document they requested (UK police clearance) on Feb 22. And now we are just waiting! So I'm glad to hear that your's has been processed relatively quickly.

I believe we are now waiting for them to request the RPRF - we did ask if we could pay it now but the visa office said we had to wait until they requested it...then I suppose we pay it and wait for the passport request?

If anyone has any other information or timelines to share about the Pretoria office I'd appreciate it. I'm going a little crazy waiting (I'm in Canada, he's in South Africa). Thanks!

Actually we paid the fees before we submitted the application to CPC- Missassagua. The guide required us to enclose the receipt of the payment when we submit the application. We paid $1,040.00 for everything - Right for Permanent Residency, Sponsorship application and Principal applicant.

I'm waiting for a call from CHC- Pretoria because I don't have any idea how they will return my passport. I hope they call me soon because this waiting is stressing me out.

Hey guys, what is Aknowledgment of Receipt? I was informed that they sent me that with request for missing documents. And also I can not check my husband's status of application on line any more. Help!!! I am worried!

Chitololo! Congratulations!! Went through pretoria last year. It all done send the passport via Fedex/DHL.

Chitotolo, send the passport via Fedex/DHL but you have to prepay for the return- when they have issued the visa in your passport they will contact you to arrange with your local DHL/Fedex for the return ( I reveived an email to notify me passport was ready for pickup, as well as follow up calls) My passport was ready for pick up a week after visa was issued, the delays caused (3weeks) was due to Fedex.

goodness i missed the stuff about ur pp being send etc and 'decision made' Ok got yah. my passport was stamped on a frid (like yours 5th) same day they got it from Fedex- decision made was on ecas the mon after. I then got an email on the Wed to say passport ready for pickup- went over to Fedex to fill in the return pickup, didnt get my pp till 3weeks later- in between Pretoria rung me x 2 and send 2more emails, asking me to chase Fedex.

hope this clarify things - sorry agian had missed out that Pretoria already has your pp

May I ask what you mean by "prepaying for the return of my passport"? Should I have done it before I sent my passport or should I wait for Pretoria's call before arranging in with DHL?

The only thing in the envelope that I sent is my new passport since my old one expired last Feb. 15. I'm concerned about how they are going to contact me because I didn't receive any email from them when they informed me to send my passport. They also sent the Acknowledgement Receipt to my wife's address and when I check eCAS, the address there is my wife's address. It took 2 weeks for the acknowledgement to arrive, so I'm expecting to my wife to receive the decision and PPR letter this week also because they called me 2 weeks ago.

Adding to my worries is the current communication problems we are experiencing work. The phone and emails are down. I couldn't even open yahoo mail. I hope they don't send my passport to Canada as well because I need it here in Angola.

Yes, can understand your frustrations. Like what i said I received my PPR via email (check spam)with a request for me to prepay for the return of my pp, meaning when I sent my pp to pretoria via Fedex I also paid at the same time the fee for Pretoria to return my pp. Now here is another saga -after they stamped my pp I received an email/call to advise and asking me to make arrangments for Fedex to pick up my pp/documents (photos). I then had to go back to Fedex with the return ref for them to arrange pickup and this is where my delays where.

With 'decision made' in my case and another i know the pp was already stamped with visa, so its just a matter of waiting for that email/call now. It shouldnt be that long. Good luck!

2. How did fedex collect your PP? Do they just go there between 11 to 12 and say that they are there to collect my passport?

Hey ! told you- yes thats the same lady that we dealt with. Now here it goes if you are in Pretoria you can pick up your pp within those times but I gather you are in Angola.

Email Mary- she is good she will email you back. I guess what you need to do is go to DHL , fill the forms ,make a payment and request a pick up from the Embassy Pretoria. You will need to give them your immigration file number/contact name in Pretoria (mary.....) ful address. The times indicated are the times when Pretoria will attend to you in person/DHL. If you email Mary she will let you know when the pp gets picked up by DHL and then you can monitor. Congratulations!!!
