I am not sure if debit card payment will go through...it didn't work for after several attempts , you better use Credit card!

Always amazed people seem to not be computer literate to do a simple search on the CIC site to find that credit cards are the accepted payment method. Might vary by country but all the info is here http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/information/fees/index.asp

I think it's not being computer illiterates, some debit cards claims to be accepted wherever credit cards are accepted but sometimes it doesn't go through....

The only time a debit card is accepted as though it were a credit card is if it's a debit Visa or debit Mastercard. If your debit card has a Visa or Mastercard logo on the front, it's a debit Visa or Mastercard, and in most cases will be accepted wherever credit cards are accepted. But's not a credit card. The funds are immediately withdrawn from your account.

My Visa Debit would not work on the Cic website last fall. The bank confirmed with me that they do not accept visa debit.

Debit cards issued from a Canadian financial institution such as BMO, TD, Scotia Bank or RBC are also accepted. However, users must be enrolled in online banking to pay their fees online. Credit cards that are also used as debit cards (e.g. Visa Debit) are not accepted.
