Hello. I am preparing for the citizenship test, and there are many dates in the guide recommended by IRCC for test preparation. Do we have to memorize all these dates by heart? Thanks in advance

Yes - you should know them.

I wrote about 60 dates on flash cards and was getting 95% when I took the test. Given its multiple choice I figured that was good enough.

Also had flash cards for famous people. Go for whatever works for you but you want to have a decent knowledge of everything in the book.

As an example, the back page clearly says you don’t need to know those two quotes. Everything else is fair game.

You mean flash cards for you to study them? I understand that we need to know about what is written in the book for the test, but I am not good with dates specifically. I was bad at this in history classes at school. It's not that I am not interested in memorizing important Canadian dates. Other than that concern, I have no issue. I am not sure how often they bring dates questions and how many questions in each test. I guess it's different each time, but I hope they are not many that one could fail the test because of them!!

Yeah I was finding it hard to remember them all too so made flash cards and kept running through them. Did eventually stick.

Practice the online and apps for tests too. Some are quite easy (Richmond library one) whereas others like apna something Toronto are very in depth and have detailed by chapter questions and 10 mock tests with 25 questions each.

Just remember non book sources are not supported. Many mock tests have old names for PM and opposite parties and almost all want 338 districts (correct but book is 308).

Fill in the names of all parties as per the blank book pages too unless you already know all that. Including provincial Lt Govn. etc.

I guess I would have to go through the dates multiple times. Could you post the links for the online tests to practice?
