Hi everyone,

I am currently filling out form IMM1334 - APPLICATION TO SPONSOR, SPONSORSHIP AGREEMENT & UNDERTAKING, and I would like some clarification as to what date I should put for Question 6c: "Provide the date on which you entered into the relationship'.

I am in a common-law relationship. Do I put the date we started living together, or the date we officially became common-law (1 year later).

Many thanks in advance!

The date you actually became common-law, 1 year after moving in together.

Just to back up what Canuck posted for benefit of other forum readers the information can usually be found on the CIC site, granted not easily, but usually somewhere given the many vague questions that exist on some forms open to misunderstanding.

See here in the section, (3)fill out forms, the IMM1344, then section : Sponsor personal details Q8

http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/information/applications/guides/5289ETOC.asp#forms

Question 8
  1. Tell us your current marital status. See the “Key Definitions” for explanations of the different types of marital status.
  2. Enter the date (year, month, day) you were married or you entered into your current common-law or conjugal relationship, i.e. the date your status officially changed from being single to common-law, not the date you started living together.
