You are right they are just numbers and it is so vague, only 9 months doesn't show anything they should have put some more information. They just mention 9, so people stop sending them inquiries. I think this numbers are not so accurate though it mentions new Delhi 6 months but when you search their thread all of them got their visas within 2-4 months so what is 6 !! Anyways we have to deal with them, hopefully this number is wrong and all of us get our visas faster than 9 months.I already passed 7 months. It mentions 9 months from Damascus + 1 month in Canada =10 months according to this calculation I'm in 8 month, still 2 months to come !!!

I can understand your frustration. I think you are wrong, you shouldn't calculate and pay much attention to those stupid numbers, you and zohreh had almost a same timeline while zohre got her visa 1 month ago, this means you should also get yours very soon,,, stay optimistic and hopeful,,, you and kamal are very close to the end ...

Thank you for your inspiring words.You are right maybe I'm over reacted to those numbers. I hope all of us will hear the good news very soon.Tomorrow is the end of the week again it is even more embarrassing because Damascus works until Thursday, my lawyer doesn't work on Saturdays and Sundays.So I have to wait until Monday to receive any news. :'( :'(

As a matter of fact my wife too had received the residency Q in August filled it out and sent it back via the so called Lawyer.
First I thought we were the only ones who received it but thanks to this forum I found out thats not the case and even citizens did so too let alone PRs.

You are right all the applicants in Damascus are asked to fill the questionnaire, I don't know why,maybe because the processing time is too long they want to reconfirm spouse status. According to what the cic told me, request for extra documents causes some delay but I'm not sure that this questionnaire is an extra documents or it is just a part of Damascus policy.
Hopefully this is just part of their process and it wouldn't increase the processing time.Hopefully more good news come next week.

I paid the Permanent Residence Fee along with other fees total of 1040$.If you didn't pay it Damascus will inform you to pay the amount as soon as your file is in Damascus.

According to the time line, applicants are supposed to get their visas 9 months after complete package, which would be after sending RQ form. If it is right, the total time would be so long! I think they just want to get rid of lots of inquiries (

But I don't understand what they do during this process. Do they check the sponsor's status in Canada? However, Mississauga has done it before. Anybody knows what do they check exactly? Otherwise, it should not take long time.

3-SPONSORSHIP EVALUATION
4-STATUTORY DECLARATION OF COMMON-LAW UNION
5-SPONSOR QUESTIONNAIRE
6-USE OF A REPRESENTATIVE (FOR SPONSOR IF APPLICABLE)
7-APPLICATION FOR PERMANENT RESIDENCE IN CANADA
8-SCHEDULE 1 BACKGROUND / DECLARATION
9-ADDITIONAL FAMILY INFORMATION
10-SPONSORED SPOUSE/PARTNER QUESTIONNAIRE
11-USE OF REPRESENTATIVE (SPONSORED IF APPLICABLE)
12-photos
13-fees
14-Marriage certificate
15-medical exam
16-Police certificate
17-Option C
18-Tax papers
and RQ is mostly a supplementary form I believe.
During this 9 months nobody knows what they do!! They mostly check the application and wait for security check but if they check back on sponsor I really don't know and to me it doesn't look wise to do so.If they want to check each sponsor twice it will take them years.

Thank you so much Eli jan for your informative explanation. So, if it is right, for many of us who have been waiting around 6,7,8 months, the new time line would not affect the application and it can just delay it for around 1 or 2 months. (Hopefully )

Your welcome, you are right.Most of us already wait for 6-8 months so 1 month more doesn't hurt that much :'( Hopefully all of us will get our visas sooner than 9 months.I think the upper limit is 9, hopefully most of us will be done within 6-7 months.

I do not think it 9 months exactly, I believe they removed the 30 % and 50% because they have lots of emails load, so they try to limited as could as they can. and do not forget this is for past so you would never know what is new process time now. as a statistics , and our views, past two years was different time, because of number of people applied and submit additional papers, and do not forget the skills worker now is shorter time, and many people would apply for visits. so all this are load in CIC Officers.

I believe and hopefully it ll not talk 9 months, and if does, what can we do ???

but my question is that : why they cannot tell or update our Online service to tell which stage we are in. exactly so we know how long left with out sending them our emails :-\

What concerns me is the processing time line and what I mentioned in my post was that I'm making a bet that my wife's Visa will be issued by then (Dec. 27th, 2010). Based on this bet, I will be flying to Jordan to have the wedding ceremony.

Now, the Damascus office received/started processing my file on October 4th, 2010. I see a lot of folks here having issues with Damascus. Now, I've read many messages in this forum about poeple sending incomplete applications/no proofs etc. I made sure all details were covered so I don't have to wait and the medicals were done on August 7th, 2010.

The last ONLY thing they asked for was the RQ form which faxed to their office 2 days later and mailed as well on the same day. Other then that, I don't what else to do. To be honest, if her Visa is not issued by the time I get to Jordan, I'm travelling to Syria to make someone unhappy because they'll be pushing the limits. You know I'm only saying that becuase as you and I and the logiccal person would know that if you have all documents in place, reviewing them wouldn't take more than a day or two at the most.
